When I started High School in 1950 (Bronx HS of Science, the old Creston Ave building near the Grand Concourse), there was a used-book store across the street that seemed to be liquidating someone's collection of Astounding Science Fiction going back to 1938. I think I bought the whole collection, one or two issues at a time.

When I left home for grad school in 1957, my mother sold my Astounding, Galaxy, F&SF, ...

I eventually forgave her...

Wow! Thanks for sharing.

You almost certainly overlapped with Chip Delany's time at the Bronx High School of Science. Do you recall if the two of you crossed paths?

I guess it gives me some that I'll receive the remainder of my subscription, but not much. I just renewed for two years when MF&SF's problems manifested. I had subscribed for over 30 years. It would be nice if they let us know their intentions.

Yes, some clarity would be helpful. I did reach out to Steven Salpeter to ask him about the story in Locus. He indicated Trevor Quachri (Analog) and Emily Hockaday (Analog/Asimov's) are transitioning to Must Read Books, but didn't confirm or deny F&SF is part of the deal. He characterized the story as a "leak," so it looks like they weren't ready to make a public statement.

I have been a loyal subscriber of Asimov's since 1978. Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine, under the new owners, has been two to three weeks LATE in publishing the May-June and July-August issues. They can't afford to lose writers like Kristine Kathryn Rusch, who will no longer be publishing with them. That does not bode well. Customer service does not exist. I have cancelled my subscription.
