Harlan Ellison in context
Years ago I read a Ellison short story about himself. I was appalled! It was crude, insensitive, and not funny! His treatment of a female made me never want to read anything about him or by him again.
He reveled in being a provocateur. In his own words:
“From time to time some denigrater or critic with umbrage will say of my work, 'He only wrote that to shock.' I smile and nod. Precisely.’”
